You have many routes to choose from that are located all over the state if you want to spend the day on your motorcycle. Rock River Run

If you want an easy route to follow, try the Rock River Run through rural Illinois. This motorcycle route starts in Rockford and heads on SR-2 towards Dixon. Riding beside the Rock River, you can see rock formations, ravines, and plenty of charming small towns. One of the highlights is the statue of Chief Blackhawk that sits overlooking the river. 

Scenic Ridge Route

For motorcycle riders seeking smooth paths and sweeping turns, the Scenic Ridge Route is a great option. This route starts in the Mississippi Palisades State Park and heads towards Elizabeth, Illinois. Farms and rolling hills await you on this road. The complete journey takes you 19 miles, which is a nice moderate trip for most motorcycle riders. 

Elizabeth Scales Road

This motorcycle route starts in Elizabeth. You can follow this road 12 miles through some of the most beautiful landscapes. Make time to stop and appreciate the views of rolling hills and farmland. You can also take a pitstop in the town of Elizabeth to see the sights and have some food. 

Shawnee National Forest

For the more committed motorcycle rider, you can wind your way through all 46 miles of the Shawnee National Forest near Carbondale, Illinois. This national forest, known as the Illinois Ozarks, has a reputation for waterfalls, lakes, caves, and cypress swamps. Make sure to find your way to Old US Highway 51 after passing through Anna, Illinois. Old US Highway 51 has exciting turns that are a great test of your motorcycle riding ability.

Great River Road

Great River Road offers smooth sailing for most riders and does not feature many challenging twists for the novice motorcycle rider. The Mississippi River runs next to this route, plus you will notice many other diverting sights. Farms, bluffs, wetlands, and caves are just some of the beautiful sceneries you will see.
